Physx goes Mobile

Over at Ageia they have released new mobile version of the processor, the 100M. Consuming a modest 10 Watts of juice under gameplay conditions, this shouldn't beat up on battery life too badly, but if you are willing to fork out the dough for a Physx processor in your laptop you probably are going to be on a desktop replacement model. No word yet on vendors for this part.

Ageia Relaxes Royalties

Ageia has lowered the barriers to programming a Physx enabled game by dropping some contract requirements and allowing developers to include the Ageia Physx with a new EULA. The press release can be found here.

This is exciting news as now a developer does not have to go to Ageia for the 'keys to the vault'. They can quickly incorporate the Physx acceleration, either in hardware or software without additional encumberances. This is great news for the end user - as hopefully it speeds adoption of Physx acceleration.

Bioware, creators of such titles as Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic have announced they will be working with Ageia to incorporate the Ageia Physx into their upcoming Eclipse Engine.

On a personal note some of my favorite titles have been developed by Bioware - so that is great news!
